SITs will work with campers and participate in leadership and team building programs. These creative and hardworking individuals are taking the beginning steps to becoming the ultimate group counselor. The Staff-In-Training program offers engaging training sessions that will include camp program planning and best practices in working with children. An application and interview are required for admission into the SIT program. Once accepted into the program, there will be a mandatory staff training. Rising 9th graders will earn 40 community service hours per week. The SIT program is available in three-week sessions and the cost is $100 per week. SITs must be registered for camp before they can submit their application.
Outstanding graduates of the SIT program will receive priority in the hiring process for the 2024 summer at MJCCA Day Camps, along with a higher starting salary. However, participation in the SIT program does not guarantee job placement the following summer. SIT programs are not eligible for financial assistance and are not eligible for the Multiple-Week Discount. MJCCA Day Camps registration and refund policies (see page 26) also apply for the SIT Program. Additionally, MJCCA Day Camps will not issue any credits or refunds if you are terminated from the SIT program at any point during the summer. SIT participants will be placed in a Camp Isidore Alterman group and spots are limited. The deadline to register for the SIT Program is April 1, 2023.
