Camp Overview
The MJCCA Summer Leadership Institute is a dynamic, hands-on program designed for 9th graders to be the best Staff-in-Training (SITs). Participants will gain real-world experience working with campers at MJCCA Day Camps, bringing energy and creativity to the day while developing valuable leadership skills.
Staff-in-Training (SITs) will meet twice weekly in cohort sessions featuring influential community leaders, focusing on leadership development, best practices for working with children, and turning leadership ideas into action. The program also includes field trips designed to strengthen social bonds and provide opportunities for meaningful mitzvah community service projects, offering participants a chance to apply their new skills and earn community service hours.
With a focus on mental health, personal strengths development, and addressing community needs, the MJCCA Summer Leadership Institute equips teens with the tools they need to become compassionate, innovative leaders. By bridging traditional education with immersive, camp-like experiences, the program ensures that participants remain engaged and prepared for future leadership roles in camp and the greater Jewish Atlanta community.
The SIT program is a proud partner of JumpSpark, The Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta’s teen initiative, and is not eligible for financial assistance or the Multiple-Week Discount. MJCCA Day Camps registration and refund policies (see page 26) also apply to the SIT program. Additionally, MJCCA Day Camps will not issue any credits or refunds if you are terminated from the SIT program at any point during the summer. SIT participants are placed in a Camp Isidore Alterman group with limited spots. The deadline to register is May 15, 2025.
