Transportation
Even Getting To and From Camp Is Fun
Bus Transportation
You deserve a break during summer, too. To help with your mornings and afternoons, we offer bus transportation to our Dunwoody location. Don’t be surprised if your camper actually looks forward to the bus rides with friends, favorite counselors, camp cheers, and impromptu song sessions.
Our bus service is provided by an experienced and licensed transportation company, and background checks are required for all drivers. There are also MJCCA Day Camps counselors on every bus!
We offer bus transportation to MJCCA Day Camps in Dunwoody from about 20 locations in Sandy Springs, Johns Creek, Roswell, Alpharetta, East Cobb, Brookhaven, and more! We’re thrilled to share that our buses will be air conditioned this summer! Also new this year, all buses will have seat belts. You can find the bus schedule here. The pick-up time listed on the bus schedule version in your Camp Minder account is the time the bus will depart. Please arrive at least 5 minutes earlier.
Bus transportation is offered at a cost of $25 per child, per week. Depending on space, families choosing a Dunwoody bus stop may be assigned to a nearby Dunwoody bus stop. Bus stops are subject to change.
Important Transportation Information
- Any changes to a camper’s afternoon dismissal must be communicated through camp mail by 11:00 am that day.
- Each child will receive a dismissal number for the summer – you must give this number to our staff when you pick up your camper from carpool, the bus stop, After Camp Care, or through early pick-ups. We will not release campers to anyone without their dismissal number. Your child’s dismissal number will be listed in your weekly welcome emails.
- Our staff are unable to accommodate early pick-ups after 3:00 pm.
- Early pick-ups for all campers, regardless of what camp they are in, are at the tent alongside the outdoor pool loop.
Arrival to Camp
Carpool: 8:00 – 8:50 am
Carpool is located down the gravel road, past the tennis courts, at Camp Isidore Alterman, for all camps. We will open the gates at 7:30 am this summer to start forming the carpool line down the gravel road to camp. If you are late for carpool, you will need to drop your camper off at the tent alongside the outdoor pool loop and please check in with the staff member at the table. Note: carpool drop-off and pick-up for Before-Camp and After-Camp Care will take place at the KFC Building.
Late Check-in: Begins at 9:20 am (new this summer)
Carpool ends promptly at 8:50 am to allow time for our 8 buses to unload campers down at camp. If you are late for carpool, you will need to drop your camper off at the late check-in tent located alongside the outdoor pool loop. NEW THIS SUMMER – Late Check-in does NOT start until 9:20 am. This change was made to minimize wait times at the tent as our staff are busy completing carpool, unloading buses and getting ready to start their day. Please check in with the staff member at the table before leaving your child(ren).
Bus
Bus transportation is provided to our Dunwoody location and must be registered for in advance. Please arrive to the bus stop 5 minutes early; to stay on schedule, buses are unable to wait on late campers or parents. If you miss the bus, you can attempt to meet the bus at the next stop on the way to Zaban Park. You can find the bus schedule here.
Before-Camp Care: 7:30 am – 8:50 am
Before-Camp takes place at the Kuniansky Family Center (KFC) building. Prior registration is required for Before-Camp Care. If you arrive after Before Camp Care is over, you will have to drop your camper off in the carpool line.
Dismissal from Camp
Carpool: Begins at 4:00 pm and usually takes 30-45 minutes
Please have your dismissal number visible. Afternoon carpool locations will depend on which camp you child is in and will be decided by May 1. Carpool locations are communicated each week in the welcome email that goes out the Thursday before each camp week.
- Location 1: down the gravel road, past the tennis courts, at Camp Isidore Alterman for campers in Camp Isidore Alterman, Chaverim, Sports Camp, Tennis Camp
- Location 2: At the Kuniansky Family Center (KFC) Building for campers in Theme Camps, Teen Camp, Gymnastics Camp, Dance Camp and Drama Camps
If you have more than one child and they are in different carpool locations – please go down the gravel road to location one at CAMP first and then up to the KFC building.
Note: carpool drop-off and pick-up for Before-Camp and After-Camp Care takes place at the KFC Building.
Bus
Bus transportation must be registered for in advance. If you are picking up children at a bus stop, you must provide the bus counselor(s) with your dismissal number as well as the dismissal number of any other camper you are picking up. Please arrive 5 minutes early to the bus stop. If there is no one at the bus stop to pick up your child, he/she will stay on the bus and can be picked up at each subsequent stop of their bus route. If your child has not been picked up by the end of the bus route, they will be taken back to the camp office. PLEASE NOTE: The buses depart BEFORE carpool begins. If there is a day that your camper should not ride the bus home and you do not submit camp mail to let our office know, they will be sent home on their regular bus.
After-Camp Care
After-Camp Care takes place at the Kuniansky Family Center (KFC) building. After-Camp care runs until 6:00 pm and we ask that you please do not come before 4:45 pm to pick up so that we can clear the carpool lines first. Prior registration is required for After Camp Care.
Post Camp Activities
If your camper is participating in an activity at the MJCCA after the camp day, please submit camp mail to indicate which activity they should attend. As a reminder, we send Swim Team participants directly to the outdoor pool daily unless the camp office receives written communication otherwise. A separate registration form and payment is required in order to attend one of these programs.
For more information and specific times for arrival and dismissal, please check your CampMinder account.
